2012 Recycling Calendars are available at the Town Hall.
GARBAGE/RECYCLING COLLECTION:
HOUSEHOLD HAZARDOUS MATERIAL SCHEDULE: The Winnebago County Household Hazardous Materials Collection Facility has provided information on hazardous materials as well as a calendar/schedule of the dates and times hazardous materials are accepted at their facility. This information is available at the Town Hall.
GARBAGE/RECYCLING COLLECTION: Veolia Environmental will be the hauler for 2012. The collection day for the entire town is on Wednesdays for both recycling and trash.
The Special Assessment for 2011 is $156/year; $13/month. This is $1/month more than for 2010.
Please contact the office if you have not received your carts. Additional carts are available by contacting Veolia directly.

Guide to Recycling:
Plastic bags should not be used at any time with the single stream recycling program. Plastic bags wrap around the processing equipment. These include the bags you receive from retail grocery and other stores. Mix ALL of these recyclables loosely in your RECYCLE ONLY container.
PAPER ITEMS TO RECYCLE
Do not bundle or tie paper:
Brown paper grocery bags
Corrugated cardboard (boxes flattened, no larger than 3’ by 3’)
Egg cartons (paper type only)
Fiberboard (soda & beer wraps, cereal & cracker boxes, etc.)
Gift wrap rolls, paper towel rolls, cardboard tubes
Hanging files (with metal hangers removed)
Hardcover books (remove covers and binding)
Junk mail & envelopes
Kleenex boxes (no tissues)
Magazines & catalogs
Newspaper (all sections)
Office & writing Paper
Paperback books
Phone books
Shredded paper (in paper bag or box)
OTHER ITEMS TO RECYCLE:
Aerosol Cans (cap & nozzle removed)
Aluminum Cans
Glass food and beverage containers (any color)
Plastic narrow-necked bottles marked #1 & #2.
Tin Cans (labels & lids on)
DO NOT RECYCLE:
Aluminum foil/cooking trays
Dairy cartons
Diapers
Empty paint cans
Frozen food boxes
Gift wrap
Ice cream buckets
Light bulbs
Metal rings/necks/tops on glass jars or bottles
Paper with food on it
Pizza boxes
Plant flats and pots
Plastic bags from stores
Plastic containers for engine oil, brake fluid, transmission fluid. etc.
Plastics marked #3, #4, #5, #6, #7
Waxed boxes
Wide mouth #1 & #2 containers (butter, ice cream, cottage cheese, etc.) Throw out the big mouths...only narrow-necked containers are to be recycled. Plastic containers with openings that are larger than their bottoms (e.g., margarine tubs) should be reused or disposed of in your household trash.
Remember...it’s important to rinse cans and bottles to remove food and liquid from contaminating paper products placed in the same recycling cart.
